remove msn messenger from system tray in windows7

For quite sometime I have been using Windows 7 and I liked it too. But one thing that is continously annoying me is that the Windows Live Messenger is not minimized to system tray, but remained in the taskbar occupying extra space.

So, we can solve this problem easily by following the steps below:

1. Locate the folder in Hard Disk where you have installed Windows Live Messenger. Probably it will be located at C: \ Program Files \ Windows Live \ Messenger.

2. Then right-click on the msnmsgr.exe file and then click Properties.

3. Then go to the Compatibility tab and select the option called compatibility with Windows Vista.

4. Finally click Apply and that’s it, now the Messenger will be minimized as is customary in the system tray or notification area of Windows.
